Minutes of Foundation
On the 20th February 1988 the Standing Conference for Research on Activity
Theory (ISCRAT) was founded with the enclosed statutes.
Founder members are:

- Prof. Dr. Laszlo Garai, Academy of Sciences, Budapest (Hungary)
- Prof. Dr. Klaus Helkama, University of Helsinki (Finland)
- Prof. Dr. Martin Hildebrand-Nilshon, FU Berlin (Berlin/West)
- Antti Kauppi, M.A., University of Helsinki (Finland)
- Dr. David Middleton, University of Loughborough (Great Britain)
- Doz. Dr. Leena Norros, Technical Research Centre of Finland (Finland)
- Prof. Dr. Georg Rückriem, University of Arts (Berlin/West)
- Dr. Berthel Sutter, University of Umeå (Sweden)
- Prof. Dr. Charles Tolman, University of Victoria (Canada)
- Prof. Dr. Maria S. Veggetti, University of Rome (Italy)
According to the statutes, Prof. Dr. Yrjö Engestroem, Helsinki, was unanimously
elected President of the Standing Conference. He accepted the election.
According to the statutes, the following members of the Standing Committee were
elected unanimously:
- Prof. Dr. Eduard Bol, Utrecht
- Prof. Dr. Laszlo Garai, Budapest
- Dr. David Middleton, Loughborough
- Dr. Berthel Sutter, Umeå (Sweden)
- Prof. Dr. Charles Tolman, Victoria
- Prof. Dr. Maria S. Veggetti, Rome
All members accepted the vote.
The Standing Committee unanimously elected as its chairperson Prof. Dr. Maria
S. Veggetti, Rome and as its secretary Dr. David Middleton, Loughborough.
Both accepted the vote.
According to the statutes, the following colleagues were coopted by the Standing
Committee:
- Prof. Dr. Sylvia Scribner, New York (USA)
- Prof. Dr. Vassili V. Davydov, Moscow (USSR)
- Prof. Dr. Kyoshi Amano, Tokyo (Japan)
These colleagues have to be asked for their consent.
The Standing Conference established an ad-hoc commission for the preparation
of the next congress in Lahti (Finland). The following Finnish members of
this commission were unanimously elected by the Standing Conference:
- Prof. Dr. Yrjö Engestroem
- Prof. Dr. Klaus Helkama
- Antti Kauppi, M.A.
- Dr. Leena Norros
- Raina Leena Punamäki
All colleagues except Mrs Punamäki who has to be asked for her consent accepted
the vote.
The Standing Conference unanimously elected as editors of the NEWSLETTER
- Prof. Dr. W. Lektorski, Moskow (USSR)
- Prof. Dr. Georg Rückriem, Berlin/West
- Prof. Dr. Charles Tolman, Victoria
Mr Rückriem was elected managing editor and therefore at the same time
ex-officio member of the Standing Committee.
All colleagues except Mr Lektorski who has to be asked for his consent accepted
the vote.
