• Opening of the second edition of the international doctoral program ARGUPOLIS

  Co-organized by the Università della Svizzera Italiana, the University of Lausanne, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Neuchâtel, a second edition of the international and interdisciplinary doctoral program "Argupolis" is opening now (description attached here).

   

• 3rd International ISCAR Summer University Moscow, Russia July 2 - 7, 2012

  International Society for Cultural and Activity Research and Moscow State University of Psychology and Education are pleased to announce the Third International ISCAR Summer University "Moving with and beyond Vygotsky" which will take place in Moscow, Russia on July 2-7, 2012 and invite PhD students from all over the world to participate.

  International Society for Cultural and Activity Research and Moscow State University of Psychology and Education are pleased to announce the Second International ISCAR Summer University "Theoretical Problems of Cultural-historical Psychology in the Context of Emerging Social Practices" which will take place in Moscow, Russia from August 26 till September 1, 2011 and invite PhD students from all over the world to participate.

   

• Vacant PhD Stipend in one or more of the following areas: Children and Media, Game Industry, Science and Technology Studies

  The project in which the PhD candidate will be enrolled inquires how people come to know what 'media harm' (to children of particularly violent computer games) is, and how this knowledge is circulated between different areas in society. The area in focus of the PhD candidate will be children’s everyday practices or game industry.

  We are gladly informing you that International Vygotsky Association, Vygotsky Institute of Psychology and Vygotsky Fund is planning the 4th International Cultural-Historical Summer School "Psychology of communication: the theory and practice" for the period from 5 July 2011 to 14 July 2011.

  ISCAR is please to announce the winners of two scholarships to participate in the 2011 ISCAR Congress in Rome.

   

• 1st ISCAR International Summer School for PhD Students “Cultural-Historical Research Methodology: Rethinking the Past for the Future”

  From Sunday, 20 June, to Thursday, 24 June 2010 the 1st ISCAR International Summer School for PhD Students took place at the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE). Titled ‘Cultural-Historical Research Methodology: Rethinking the Past for the Future’ this event provided the possibility for 28 PhD students from all over the world to deepen their knowledge of cultural-historical and activity theory, to discuss their work with renown professors and become colleagues and friends. The participants’ group consisted of students from Russia (10), Brazil (5), Mexico (1), China (1), USA (2), Australia (2) and various European countries (7). While the official Summer School language was English, many other languages were spoken between the participants such as; Spanish, Russian, Brazilian, French, German, Italian, Finnish and many more.

   

• ISCAR 2011 Congress PhD Students’ Day

  The 1st ISCAR PhD Students’ Day will give special attention to a kind of “doctoral counseling”, focusing on the different phases of doctoral research work There will be spaces/times for dialogues, presentations and debates, including the participation of Senior Researchers that will discuss parts of PhD students’ work and provide some suggestions. For instance, the opportunity of discussing data analysis will be given to doctoral students who have already collected their empirical data.

   

• Agreement between Executive Committee of the ISCAR and the book series International Cultural-Historical Humane Sciences

  New agreement settles the cooperation between the Executive Committee of ISCAR and editors Hartmut Giest and Georg Rückriem of the book series International Cultural-Historical Humane Sciences (http://www.ich-sciences.de/index.php?id=20&L=1).
