Final Announcement
HOMINIS 99
The Cuban Society of Psychology and the Preparatory Committee of the HOMINIS 99 Convention, made up by the School of Psychology of the University of Havana, the Cuban Society of Health Psychology, the Psychology Departments of the Central University of Las Villas and University of Oriente, the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences attached to the Ministry of Education, the Sociology Department of the School of Philosophy, the Anthropology Chair at the University of Havana, the L.S.Vigotsky Chair, the Center of Womens Studies and the Center of Psychological and Sociological Research of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment, together with the Havana International Conference Center,
HEREBY INVITE professionals in Psychology and related disciplines, social sciences and all others who work for the wellbeing and happiness of human beings to participate in the HOMINIS 99 Convention, to be held on November 1-5, 1999, at the Havana International Conference Center.
HOMINIS will provide plenty spaces for reflection through ten major events, including, among others:
THE 3rd CONFERENCE on the work and thought of L.S.Vigotsky and his followers, organized with the aim of discussing and reflecting on the contributions and projections that can be made on the basis of this conception.
HOMINIS 99 recognizes that, at the dawn of a new century and millennium, it is of utmost importance to discuss and ponder on the expectations and demands being made on Human Sciences and, particularly, on Psychology. Therefore, the INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM "USER EXPECTATIONS FROM AND DEMANDS ON HUMAN SCIENCES" has been organized for all those who are users or are involved in such sciences, whether professionals or not.
Likewise, the INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM ON EPISTEMOLOGICAL PROBLEMS IN PSYCHOLOGY "PRESENT AND FUTURE OF QUALITATIVE RESEARCH" is aimed at strengthening the relevance of epistemological reflection for the achievement of practical goals in social sciences. The meeting will place particular emphasis on qualitative alternatives as an expression of different epistemological and methodological supports which have been traditionally backed by positivist research in Psychology and other social and human sciences.
We hope that the aims of this Convention will interest you and look forward to warmly welcoming you in our beautiful land.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Fernando González Rey
Chairman
Organizing Committee
